Danish National Team to Go All the Way Back

From DBU nyheder comes the news that the Danish National Team will be participating in the international campaign, “1 GOAL = Education for All”, by having the 23 players called up for the final Denmark national squad visit their childhood club and their primary school.
The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness of the 72 million children around the world who can’t go to school and thus are deprived of an education.
“We were very fortunate to have grown up with a quite good and flexible educational system. But there are millions of children and young people who can’t go to school. We’d like to participate in highlighting the problem and the reasons why there are still children in the world that never learn to read,” midfielder Jakob Poulsen announced regarding the mission.
Morten Olsen has planned to name the 23 players by May 10th, so the program will begin then and the reports will show up on dbu.dk on May 17th. Danish national TV channel TV2 will also cover the player’s visits to their childhood clubs in preparation of a series of features about the player’s relationships with their old clubs. These should finish before the club gathers together in Skagen on May 20th.

A great cause and adorable pictures. I will most definitely keep you updated come May.
