Greece-Denmark: The Callups/ Goodbye Martin

Hey everyone,
Sorry for not updating over the page over the last few months, but with finals and everything its been busy. Hopefully it’ll get better over the next period, and with the upcoming friendly against Greece, and important qualifiers in the spring… we’ll all go bonanza with excitment over the Denmark NT.
Friendly match
As most of you know, there is scheduled a friendly next wednesday against the mighty (or not so mighty anymore) greeks. With the game being a friendly, it gave room for a few interesting callups. The usual suspects however, are still the present:
G Thomas Sørensen Stoke City FC
G Jesper Christiansen FC Copenhagen
G Stephan Andersen Brøndby IF
D Chris Sørensen OB
D Daniel Agger Liverpool FC
D Jakob Poulsen AGF
D Lars Jacobsen Everton FC
D Per Krøldrup ACF Fiorentina
D Simon Kjær US Cittá Palermo
M Christian Poulsen Juventus
M Daniel Jensen SV Werder Bremen
M Jonas Borring FC Midtjylland
M Leon Andreasen SV Hannover 96
M Martin Vingaard FC Copenhagen
M Thomas Kristensen FC Copenhagen
F Dennis Rommedahl NEC Nijmegen
F Nicklas Bendtner Arsenal FC
F Søren Larsen Toulouse FC
On top of these, Coach Olsen has said he will call up one more player, who most likely will be Jon Dahl Tomasson from Feyenoord. But an interesting group, with both Simon Kjær and Jacob Poulsen set to make their debut in the red/white.
Martin Laursen
Ofcourse there is ONE name missing from the list: Martin Laursen. The 31 year old veteran defender announced last week his intentions of quitting the national team. Persistent injury problems means that Laursen will only focus on his club, Aston Villa. I think this is a great loss as Laursen is at the top of his game. But who knows, maybe he’ll want to come to South Africa in the summer of 2010, after the boys qualify. I for one, wouldn’t mind! Until then – Best of luck Martin. Vi kommer til at savne dig…
